2027 London Marathon 2027 dates decided with game of rock-paper-scissors
September 30, 2026
The 2027 London Marathon will be held over two days for the first time, with the schedule decided by a game of rock-paper-scissors between men’s champion Sabastian Sawe and women’s wheelchair record-holder Catherine Debrunner. Debrunner won, securing the traditional Sunday slot for the women’s elite and wheelchair races, while the men’s elite races will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2027. Organizers called the matchup an entertaining way to split the fields, and a record 1.33 million people have entered the public ballot for the event. Reuters
