2019 FlyBy 5K presented by CNX Resources raises $28,000 for ACAA Charitable Foundation
November 21, 2019
PITTSBURGH (November 21, 2019) – P3R and Pittsburgh International Airport presented a check for $28,000 to the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation today, the largest amount raised since the FlyBy 5K started four years ago.
All proceeds raised from the race directly benefit the ACAA Charitable Foundation. This nonprofit organization was established in 2013 to enhance the experience of military personnel, families and others traveling through Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport. In addition to supporting the military room at Pittsburgh International, the foundation supports art and cultural displays and awards aviation-related scholarships.
“We’re excited that this event has continued to grow each year and we’re already looking forward to next year’s race,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “This event gives community members a chance to engage with the airport in ways they don’t typically have an opportunity to experience. And proceeds from the race allow us to improve the travel experience for our military families and others in the community.”
The FlyBy 5K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk Presented by CNX Resources brought hundreds of families out to Pittsburgh International Airport, encouraging them to exercise together as they raced the runway.
“We love seeing more children and their families getting active with us as this event grows each year,” said Troy Schooley, CEO of P3R. “But what makes it even better is that it allows us to donate even more to the ACAA Charitable Foundation and give back to the military personnel and their families who give so much to our country.”
The growth and impact of this event wouldn’t be possible without the support of the FlyBy 5K’s title partner, CNX Resources. This is the second year CNX Resources has sponsored the FlyBy 5K, aiding in the donation to the ACAA Foundation.
