January 6, 2017
Hand illustrated designs highlight race course, statistics and imagery from Boulder’s iconic 10K
BOULDER, COLO. (January 6, 2017) – BolderBOULDER, America’s All–Time Best 10K, today unveiled its 2017 official race designs. All three shirt options are meticulously hand-illustrated and showcase a design within a design with details including the BolderBOULDER course, landmarks, slogans, statistics and other race imagery. The short sleeve shirt features the Boulder Flatirons, the technical tee provided by Skecher’s Performance has a running shoe design inspired after the 1985 BolderBOULDER race poster and the long-sleeve tee is marked with the Colorado C logo that highlights the race course.
“The designs blew us away. We enjoyed seeing new details each time we looked at them.” said Jamie Konegni, director of marketing.
Anthem Branding designed the 2017 gear with creative assistance from Genesis Inc. Genesis Inc. has been the primary creative agency for the BolderBOULDER the beginning and Anthem Branding has been a long-time merchandise production partner of the BolderBOULDER.
“We used a handcrafted illustration style across all designs to ensure they work as a family, but focused on individual details to make each stand out on their own,” said Cat Wenger, art director for Anthem Branding. “We combined encouraging words and phrases with Boulder-specific imagery to reinforce the notion of community and the important role our iconic town plays in this event.”
This year, the men’s, women’s, youth and unisex long sleeve t-shirts are custom sewn for BolderBoulder to guarantee a fantastic fit. The short sleeve package features the hand-illustrated flatirons design on a heather forest green color for men, a heather navy color for women and a heather pastel lime color for kids.
The Skechers Performance men’s and woman’s high performance tech tee features a relaxed running fit and moisture wicking fabric. The men’s tee comes in a fun ultramarine color, while the woman’s tee comes in a trendy teal. It’s the perfect shirt for BolderBOULDER training, racing and beyond.
This year’s long-sleeved shirt features a design that was introduced last year on commemorative merchandise; the Colorado C logo with the BolderBOULDER race course sketched inside. This versatile and comfortable shirt is a heather slate color and is great for cold weather training days and everyday wear.
“Every year our team looks forward to working and brainstorming with the BolderBOULDER and Genesis Inc. team on race tee designs. We feel that 2017 showcases some of our best work yet,” said Wenger. “Knowing that over 50,000 people wear shirts we designed makes this a challenging yet exciting project.”
If race participants do not want a tee with registration they have the option to donate the T-shirt value to the CU Scholarship Fund or donate the T-shirt to various humanitarian aid organizations.
Race registration includes choice of short sleeved, technical and long sleeved tee. The short-sleeved shirt package is $50, the long sleeved package is $55 and the Skechers Performance technical tee package is $65 through February 28th. Racers who want all three shirts have the option to purchase the Bolder package for only $80. Discounts are available for seniors, military and kids 14 years-old and younger.
