Atlantic City, New Jersey (September 16, 2013) –The 3rd Annual Atlantic City International Triathlon presented by Revel and DelMoSports took place Sunday, September 15, beginning and ending at Bader Field. The international-distance event welcomed over 1,000 athletes for a 1-mile swim in the beautiful bay, a 20-mile bike on the Atlantic City Expressway and a 10-k run on the World Famous Boardwalk. This year’s event also included a sprint race consisting of a ¼ mile swim, 10 mile bike and 5k run for beginners and an all new Aquabike which included a 1 mile swim and 20 mile bike only.
“In its third year in 2013, the Atlantic City International Triathlon experienced 400% growth from its inaugural race, this year attracting over 1000 athletes,” said Stephen Del Monte, Founder/CEO of DelMoSports, organizer of the event. “This year we enhanced the athlete experience even further by hosting the first ever Paratriathlon Mid Atlantic Regional Championships. Watching these physically challenged athletes race was a true inspiration for all.”
The Atlantic City International Triathlon presented by REVEL offered something for every interest and athletic level. With Atlantic City’s wealth of tourism offerings, there was much to discover beyond the race. Participants and spectators enjoyed a full schedule of activities, ranging from award ceremonies and cocktail receptions to cultural festivities.
