2-Time U.S. Olympian Alison Dunlap to Present Keynote Speech at USA Triathlon Coaching Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Cycling world champion and two-time U.S. Olympian Alison Dunlap headlines the 2016 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium, which will be held Oct. 21-22 in Atlanta.

The biannual event is a unique and robust educational opportunity for triathlon coaches and will feature a dynamic lineup of U.S. and international multisport experts. This year’s event will be held at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center, and USA Triathlon Certified Coaches earn 15 CEUs for attending the entire conference. The cost is $595 for USA Triathlon Certified Coaches, $625 for USA Triathlon annual members and $655 for the general public.

Dunlap, the keynote speaker, is a superstar in the sport of cycling.  She is a two-time U.S. Olympian, having competed in the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games as a road cyclist and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as a mountain biker. She has won 13 U.S. national titles in road cycling, mountain biking and cyclocross. On Sept. 15, 2001, she won the gold medal at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Vail, Colorado, just four days after the Sept. 11 attacks. Wearing the coveted rainbow jersey, Dunlap claimed the overall World Cup championship the following year.

In 2003 Dunlap founded the Alison Dunlap Adventure Camps, and since retiring in 2005, she has been working full-time coaching cyclists and running skills camps and clinics. She is a USA Cycling Level I Certified Coach, a certified Professional Mountain Bike Instructor, a Wilderness First Responder, a Colorado College graduate, and a proud mom to her 5-year-old son, Emmett.
