USMES Boulder, CO; Saluda Roubaix Batesburg-Leesville, SC – Feb 7, 2019 – Riding through farmland, timberland, country bridges and levees, on gravel, rustic pavement and dirt, Saluda Roubaix competitors attack their challenging course with 100 percent commitment. Now in its third year, Saluda Roubaix volunteers are again working to support US Military Endurance Sports (USMES), a 501(c)3 non-profit and the leading endurance sports and healthy lifestyle organization for America’s military and Veteran communities.
“Last year’s Saluda Roubaix was a great event for our membership,” said USMES Cycling Coordinator Garett Schreier. “When Vince and Tim decided to waive race entries for USMES athletes as well as donate all proceeds from their race, we had a huge turnout and a bunch of new gravel riders competed and fell in love with the sport. We are so honored that Saluda Roubaix is doubling down by supporting the team for the second year in a row. The proceeds from Saluda Roubaix will help us serve our members at an even higher level. For our military families and Veterans, activity and community are key to remaining ‘fit for life.’”
“Saluda Roubaix is more than these dirt roads,” said Vince McCall, co-founder of Saluda Roubaix. “When I think about the sacrifices of the US Military, I remember that all our difficult trials and costs matter. Those were tough miles – counted and there forever. ‘Every mile counts’ is not just a tag line, it means that every service member, every Veteran, every sacrifice counts. Reading the inspiring stories of USMES athletes and then getting to meet them, the Saluda Roubaix spirit of 100 percent is evident in their commitment: to their country, their sport and their teammates.”
