United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon San Francisco Unveiled Improved Course Changes For Race On March 26

New Route Gets Runners To The Bridge Faster

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon San Francisco today announced new and improved course changes for the race set to take place on Sunday, March 26. For the first time ever, the half marathon’s start line experience will move to iconic Golden Gate Park, near the Bison Paddock. This new start location puts racers a mile closer to the Golden Gate Bridge and eliminates more than 120 feet of early hills on the course. Racers will also enjoy a new scenic run past Fort Point en route to Crissy Field.

The scenic 13.1-mile course will continue to highlight San Francisco’s most famous spots and sprawling ocean views. The course takes runners through the Presidio, across the Golden Gate Bridge and along Crissy Field with skyline views before ending in the heart of the city at Civic Center Plaza. Live local bands and eclectic entertainment will perform along the course, which culminates with a finish line festival and the Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert at Civic Center Plaza. Race course is subject to change.

“The highlight of this race is the opportunity to run across the Golden Gate Bridge,” said Event Manager Miyoko Beetem. “With the new start line in Golden Gate Park, we’ll be able to get runners there even earlier and open up the streets for Bay Area residents.”

The iconic wear blue Mile returns this year to the Lincoln Boulevard climb in the Presidio to the bridge. Members of the wear blue: run to remember organization will line this section of the course with families of the fallen, active duty military and veteran service members holding American flags as a living memorial to our fallen military. Pictures of men and women who have died in service will also be stationed along the mile to encourage and remind runners of their sacrifice.

Kicking off race weekend is the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, March 24, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at an all-new location inside Pier 35. The expo is free and open to the public. For additional information and race registration, visit RunRocknRoll.com/San-Francisco.
