DELRAY BEACH, FL – February 16, 2017 – Summer Cook returns for her fourth season of ITU racing this year, with a total of twelve races spanning the globe.
She will begin her race season with the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Series (WTS) race, followed by WTS races in Gold Coast, Australia; Yokohama, Japan; Leeds, England; Hamburg, Germany; Edmonton, Canada; Stockholm, Sweden; and Rotterdam, Netherlands. Her ITU World Cup starts will include New Plymouth, New Zealand; Huelva, Spain; Sarasota, Florida; and Tongyeong, South Korea.
Cook was named the 2016 ITU Women’s Breakout Star, after a season highlighted by three ITU wins including WTS Edmonton, the Chengdu World Cup, and the Tongyeong World Cup. With five ITU podium finishes last year, and race-leading swims and runs, she is expected to be a top competitor among a strong American team.
Cook was interviewed by Bob Babbitt on the February 14 episode of Babbittville Radio , where she discussed her ascension in the sport beginning as a standout two-sport athlete for Villanova in swimming and track/cross country. Following graduation, she joined the USAT Collegiate Recruitment program in 2013 and quickly found success in the sport.
