Shifting Participant Landscape to Highlight Lead Panel, June 29-30 in Denver
WICHITA, Kan. – According to the Running USA U.S. Road Race Trends report, the running industry saw a 9% decline in finisher numbers in 2015. With a variety of reasons as to why the decline happened, the State of the Industry panel at Running USA’s The Next Evolution presented by Events.com is set to discuss where the sport is hurting and how the industry can go about reversing the trend.
Led by a trio of running industry veterans, the State of the Industry panel kicks off Thursday, June 30, providing insights as to why running races are seeing such a notable decrease in participation and what race organizers of all sizes can do to reverse the trend.
The three panelists for the session, includes:
- Tanner Bell of Ragnar Relay, the nation’s premier relay race series, bringing teams of runners together to compete in overnight events
- John Connors of The Color Run, one of the world’s most transformative race organizations over the past decade
- Jenna Velardi of Human Movement Management, Colorado-based endurance events company which hosts such notable events as The Zombie Run and Dirty Girl Mud Run
“The sport is shifting in major ways and it’s time we as an industry start having serious discussions about those changes,” said Christine Bowen, Running USA VP of Programming and Operations. “Tanner, John and Jenna are the perfect spokespeople to touch on the most pressing State of the Sport issues and have an array of insights to share.
In addition to the panels, special sessions will revolve around digital marketing, operational and municipal relations, and the current sponsorship landscape. The well-rounded sessions give attendees a unique perspective on the challenges facing the industry and offer key solutions to build stronger events and richer relationships.
