Trek-Segafredo and TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank are ready to roll in Rudy Project
Denver CO – Rudy Project North America, exclusive distributors of Italian-made endurance sports gear, is sponsoring two high profile teams in the 2018 AMGEN Tour of California. On the men’s side Trek-Segafredo will be racing with a stacked team that includes Jasper Stuyven, who finished 5th in the Paris-Roubaix, and American favorite Pete Stetina. In the women’s race, Team TIBCO Silicon Valley Bank will be seeking another podium following their stage win and team podium at the Tour of Chongming Island.
“The Tour of California always makes for exciting racing,” said Chris Lupo, Director of Sports Marketing for Rudy Project North America. “Our teams have been working hard this season, and with Trek-Segafredo coming off the Spring Classics and TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank winning the final stage of Redlands Bicycle Classic, we’re excited to see them continue to take it to the next level.”
The six man Trek-Segafredo team will be racing in Rudy Project’s award-winning Tralyx performance sunglasses in their custom Fire Red frame with ImpactX-2 photochromic and RP Optics multilaser lenses. Pete Stetina will be racing in a custom Rydon frame configuration as the official sunglasses of his Stetina Sierra Prospect ride coming up in September. The Rydon is one of Rudy Project’s most versatile frames, featuring a number of Rx/prescription solutions and endless custom frame and lens combos. Pete’s Rydon features Rudy Project’s new Polar 3FX HDR Multilaser Red lenses, which were specifically engineered to enhance contrast on the road, reduce eye fatigue, and tune specific light wavelengths for sharper color perception.
TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank will stand out in the women’s peloton wearing their yellow fluo Boost 01 road aero helmets with matching yellow fluo Tralyx frames. Some team members will be wearing the new Tralyx SLIM, a narrower performance frame designed for athletes with slimmer faces such as women and youth. Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank has been having a stellar season so far, with Emma Grant pulling off a stunning victory on the final day of the Redlands Bicycle Classic and winning the Sunset Road Race. Teammates Kate Buss and Emily Newsom worked hard to position Emma to make the final push up the climb, where she pulled ahead of Kirsti Lay (Rally) to cross the finish line triumphant. On the other side of the world, the team took the GC win at the Tour of Chongming Island in China after Shannon Malseed took second in Stage 2.
The AMGEN Tour of California kicks off with the men’s race in Long Beach on Sunday, May 13th, and finishes Saturday, May 19th. The women’s race start’s Thursday, May 17th in Elk Grove, and concludes in Sacramento on May 19th. Follow the teams on Instagram for updates at @treksegafredo and @teamtibco_siliconvalleybank.
