Those registered can officially transfer entry to another runner for October events
QUANTICO, VA (July 12, 2017) – Runners wanting to participate in the sold out Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) in Arlington, VA and throughout the nation’s capital on Oct. 22 can obtain entry through the MCM Transfer Program opening today at www.marinemarathon.com. This year, the Transfer Program also is available to those registered to run the MCM10K, which coincides with “The People’s Marathon.”
The Transfer Program enables those currently registered for the MCM or MCM10K but no longer able to run either event, to officially transfer their entry to another participant. The MCM Transfer Program is open through Sept. 14.
To initiate a transfer, the registered runner simply completes the online form available on the MCM Transfer page of the website. MCM runners will follow the instructions provided and include the new runner’s information. The original runner will receive an email confirming the transfer request is received while the new runner will be sent an email inviting them to register for the October event.
All transfer requests must be submitted online. Each new Marathon runner will pay a $50 fee to finalize the official transfer while new MCM10K runners will pay $20 to complete a transfer. All transfers must be completed within 72 hours of initiating the transaction.
All monetary transactions will be handled between the two transferring runners. Runners can locate each other through the MCM Facebook page.

MCM to MCM10K Transfer
MCM registered runners also can transfer from the Marathon to participate in the MCM10K (6.2 miles), while MCM10K entries are still available. There is no fee for this service. The MCM10K is currently open to the public at a cost of $55 with the event open to ages eight and above. Register for the MCM10K at www.marinemarathon.com.
Registered MCM runners interested in deferring their entry from this year’s Marathon to 2018 can do so starting Aug. 15. Deferment is not available for the MCM10K.
In addition to Transfer and Deferment, the MCM Charity Program also remains open with 89 charitable organizations participating in this year’s MCM. Contact any of the organizations through the MCM website at www.marinemarathon.com. Marine Corps Marathon Weekend will be held Oct. 20-22.
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is voted “Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic,” and the “Best Marathon for Charities.” The MCM honors the dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Also known as “The People’s Marathon,” runners from all walks of life participate in the MCM, the largest marathon not to offer prize money. The 42nd MCM, sponsored by Arlington County, Brooks and Leidos and GEICO Military will be held October 22, 2017 in Arlington, VA. No federal or Marine Corps endorsement is implied. #RunWithTheMarines
