The race is under new management and returns to its Super Bowl Sunday date
San Francisco (June 14, 2016)—The 34th annual Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Half Marathon and 5K had an unprecedented opening day of 2017 registration with more than 700 runners signing up for the race, to take place on February 5, 2017.
In celebration of Global Running Day on June 1, the race partnered with A Runner’s Mind specialty running store to offer a one-day registration discount and incentive giveaways from Feetures and Nathan Sports.
The response from runners was encouraging, posting the highest numbers since 2013, when the half marathon ultimately sold out with 10,000 participants. It was a positive way to launch a year that will move the event back to its Super Bowl Sunday date, which was temporarily moved in 2016 to accommodate the Super Bowl taking place in San Francisco. New runner perks in 2017 include race merchandise, a new race app, and an ambassador program to begin in the coming weeks.
Presented by Pamakid Runners, the half marathon and 5K is honored to welcome Kaiser Permanente as the title sponsor once again. The event is under new management this year, with Blistering Pace Race Management taking on the operations, led by Michelle La Sala, president and former director of the California International Marathon. Other Blistering Pace Clients include the Big Sur International Marathon, the Napa Valley Marathon, and Destination Races.
