PORTLAND, Ore. (May 7, 2018) — Brew Dr. Kombucha, the country’s leading 100 percent raw kombucha brand, has hired Backbone Media to manage its public relations and communications strategy.
Launched in 2008 from the kitchens of their Townshend’s Teahouses, Brew Dr. Kombucha is made using custom, organic tea blends with no added juice or flavorings. As a result, Brew Dr. flavors are clean and balanced, with only naturally occurring live and active cultures. Brew Dr. is distributed across the U.S. and Canada.
“As more people discover the great taste and benefits of kombucha, our brand continues to gain momentum,” said Matt Thomas, Founder and CEO. “Backbone’s extensive experience and expertise in the active lifestyle market will be crucial as we increase our production and distribution.”
With a focus on sustainability, Brew Dr. Kombucha makes a family-friendly product suitable for all ages. Available in 12 flavors, Brew Dr. also offers limited-edition seasonal rotations throughout the year. The current summer flavor, Strawberry Basil, is available through Sept. 1, 2018.
“Kombucha has been a part of my daily routine for a while, so I’m thrilled Backbone is partnering with a category-leader that is poised to make huge strides,” said Ian Anderson, Backbone Media partner and PR Director. “Brew Dr. and Backbone share a passion for the outdoors and healthy lifestyles, and we are looking forward to helping introduce the brand to millions more Americans.”
About Brew Dr. Kombucha
Townshend’s Tea Company was started by Matt Thomas in 2006 with the idea of serving great teas in a casual teahouse setting. Over the years, the effort of presenting the wide world of tea to their guests has expanded the Townshend’s collection to over 120 tea offerings, including classic teas, rare varieties, chai latte recipes made from scratch, Taiwanese bubble tea, and an herbal apothecary line. The company now operates nine teahouses in Oregon, Montana and Utah. In 2008, the company began making kombucha in the kitchens of their then two teahouses, giving it the name Brew Dr. Kombucha. It was only natural for them to choose some of the same great tea blends they had developed for service at their popular teahouses and ferment those into kombucha. It turns out that approach is unique, as the majority of commercially available kombucha is flavored with juice at the time of bottling. Brew Dr. Kombucha’s flavor profiles come from attention to the quality and formulation of the organic tea and botanicals used, creating a difference you can taste.
