RunVermont launches search for Executive Director

Burlington, VT  /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – RunVermont, a non-profit dedicated to promoting running as a life-long activity, today announced that, after leading the organization for 13 years, Peter Delaney will complete his run as executive director, and that it has launched a nationwide search for a new executive director. RunVermont organizes and produces the People’s United Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay and several other races, offers race coaching, and runs youth programs to engage our next generation of runners.

Peter Delaney will conclude his role as executive director after this year’s May 29 People’s United Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay. Under Delaney’s leadership, RunVermont has implemented many positive changes that have benefitted the running community, including the initiation of new races, including the popular Half Marathon Unplugged and Island Vines, and the growth of the Mini-Milers youth running program. Additionally, Peter has expertly guided the organization through many challenging circumstances, including hosting the first major race to be held safely following the tragic Boston Marathon bombing, accurately rerouting the marathon after pre-race lake flooding, and leading RunVermont through the pandemic and to a safe and successful return to racing. Peter will continue to consult with the organization to help ensure a smooth transition.
